ANSWERS:

1.0.1    When did ReWired get started?

ReWired started on February 28, 2000.  Most members began joining on the 29th of the same month, and we've been growing ever since.

1.0.2    Who started ReWired?

Our list was started by Laura Hutchinson.  She is also in charge of maintaining the list.  For more information ask for her on the list.  She is very active on the list, and posts here often.

1.0.3    Why did ReWired start?

ReWired was born out of fans desire to discuss U2 without having restrictions on their postings.  That's it...simple answer right!?  See section 3.0 for more information on this topic.

2.0.1    Can I post anything?

As an unmoderated list the answer is yes.  But remember the purpose of the list is to discuss U2, so please try to stay semi-related to this topic.  Don't worry if you post off topic once and a while, it's expected, but the main focus of the list is U2, and the topics that come from being fans of U2.  This topic is included in more detail in the introduction to the list.  It says, "This is not an anything goes list.  This is a U2 list.  Please post only U2 related content.  That's really the only requirement.  If you do end up posting something with no U2 content, then I'll just email you and remind you.  (Don't worry, it's not like you'll get kicked off or anything) It takes a lot to get kicked off this list.  And remember, if I ever post something with no U2 content, it's your job to email me and bug me about it."

2.0.2    How often can I post?

As often as you like.  There are currently no limits or restrictions on the number of posts you can make.  Please remember that this list goes out to a lot of people, some of whom may not want to receive a lot of small messages.  So if you can combine as many thoughts into one message instead of breaking them up into smaller messages, but remember you are always free to post again!

2.0.3    How many people read what I write?

As of April 22, 2000 we have 140+ members on the list.  If you click on the "Members" link on the left of the list page, you can get the current number of members.

2.0.4    Can I post in a language other than English?

Yes.  As mentioned above, the list is unmoderated, but the majority of list subscribers speak English, so if you post in English more members of the list will understand your posting.

2.0.5    Do I have to be a member to post?

Unfortunately yes.  If you aren't a member, you cannot post.  Feel free to join us.  The instructions are below.

3.0.1    What is Wire?

Wire is the original U2 mailing list on the internet.  It's history dates back much further than ours.  Many members of ReWired also subscribe to Wire.  Since Wire began the internet has seen several other lists pop up.  Some of these include Exit, One, and U2Lemon.  Each of these lists has something unique to offer to fans of U2, and several fans belong to multiple lists.

3.0.2    Are the people on ReWired fighting with the people with Wire?

No.  In fact this type of behavior is discouraged on ReWired.  Yes, Rewired was formed in reaction to the introduction of "Moderation" to Wire.  Posts which were no longer being considered strictly related to U2 were rejected.  Some fans are very upset with this, have left Wired and joined Rewired.  Some fans are still members of both lists.  So no there isn't a fight between the two lists, but at this point in time not everyone is happy with Wire either.

3.0.3    Will I miss out on anything if I just join ReWired?

Hopefully not.  As the list grows you will find much of the same information you will find elsewhere.  Some fans are members of other lists, and the information found there will make it here through these "links".  You will never be asked not to check out these lists as well.

3.0.4    How is the division between Wire and other groups going to work on the next tour?

The last tour, Popmart, was incredible for bringing members of the online fan community together.  Much of this was through Wire.  Some people are worried that the numerous mailing lists out there will lead to division in the ranks for the next tour.  Hopefully this will not happen.  To see what is being done to avoid any such division check out this page.

4.0.1    Are the members of U2 on ReWired?

There has never been any evidence of U2 being on ReWired or any of the other mailing lists related to U2.  At the same time the band is very aware they have an active fan community online, and probably check these things out from time to time.

5.0.1    How do I join ReWired?

Simple.  You either go to http://www.onelist.com/group/ReWired and subscribe that way, or you can email ReWired-subscribe@onelist.com with the subject subscribe in your email.  You will receive an email shortly after your initial mail giving you further instructions.

5.0.2    How do I post to ReWired?

There are two methods, one is to post from the list page, there is a link on the left that says "Post".  A Warning, using this method sometime results in posts being cut off.  The second method is to use your own email program to email ReWired@onelist.com directly.  There has been no evidence of cut off posts when using this method to post.  Remember you have to be a member to post.

5.0.3    How do I change from recieving all these emails to just get a digest of the messages once a day?

Log in to the main page of ReWired, and choose "My Groups" link at the top of the page.  You will then see a list of groups you belong to.  On the right you will see a pull down menu called delivery options.  If you choose "Individual Emails" you will receive all of the posts as they are made directly to your email address.  Choosing daily digest will result in you getting one email per day with all of the messages included within it.

5.0.4    How do I find out who is on ReWired?

Click on the members link on the left.  You will then see the emails of the people on the list.  People not subscribed to the list will not be able to see this list.  If you suspect anyone of using this list improperly, please contact the list owner so disciplinary action can be taken against the person misusing this information.  I believe there is an option to blank out your email at onelist.com, but I haven't discovered that link yet.

5.0.5    How do I link to ReWired on my webpage?

Check out this page for some ideas for images, or check here to let people subscribe directly from your page.

6.0.1    Who wrote all of this?

Aaron Sams, a member of ReWired did the majority of the initial work.  Over time all of the members of ReWired are asked to collaborate on this project to help new members out.  Remember we were all new to this at one time or another.  Aaron also runs a U2 discography site at u2.org where members of ReWired will sometimes find exclusive mp3s that you have to be a subscriber of ReWired to access.

6.0.2    How do I get a question added?

Easy, just email Aaron at wanderer@u2wanderer.org  with the question and the answer if you have one.  I'll add it here when I have time.
